TeamNL to the Main Round

Thanks to three strong victories against Argentina, Egypt, and Austria, TeamNL Women’s Handball qualified as group winners for the main round of the World Handball Championship on home soil. The tournament continues for the Netherlands on Thursday, December 4, Saturday, December 6, and Monday, December 8 in Rotterdam Ahoy.

The first-round matches were sold out, but tickets are still available for the Main Round matches. TeamNL’s national coach is hoping for the overwhelming support of the Dutch fans once again. “The level of support from the fans is unprecedented. We see the interaction: the more they enjoy themselves, the more we enjoy ourselves. And that support will be even more important in the next round, when we play against even stronger teams,” said Henrik Signell.

After the victory over Austria, he looks ahead with confidence: “We were much stronger again in the second half of the match. That’s been the trend so far. We’re going to see how we can reach the same level in the first half. In the second half, you see us playing more freely. As for who can beat us in this tournament? If we play like we did in the second half, maybe no one. But there are some super strong teams. The next goal is, of course, the quarterfinals, but we’ll face some very strong teams on our way there as well. We have some tough matches ahead of us.”
